Marie-Ange Daudé  

Plastic artist, born in 1964 in Limoges, Marie Ange is a portraitist and feather artist

Through her portraits she expresses her desire for aestheticism and femininity as well as her penchant for melancholy and nostalgia. Her faces are strong and express a rare emotion. 

With different mediums (here encaustic), she questions our ability to recall a time (that of her childhood), using vintage photos that she appropriates by making them blurry, putting them in fog, making them tell another story

Encaustic once painted is melted with an iron to give the work an unreal, blurry, and distorted appearance. A brutalist building rises at the foot of a snow-capped mountain. The geometric structure contrasts with the organic curves of the relief. White dominates the composition, evoking an intense cold and absolute silence. 
The use of wax  adds a tactile depth to the surface. These mixed materials create rich textures. They suggest the thickness of the snow and the harshness of the concrete. 
The pictorial treatment plays with shades of gray and black. Some touches of red appear at the bottom of the building, drawing the eye towards human activity. Nature seems to reclaim its rights, enveloping the architecture in its winter mists. 
This work explores the dialogue between urbanism and the environment. The composition emphasizes the fragility of constructions in the face of the immensity of the landscape. The precise execution reflects a melancholic and suspended atmosphere. The visual rendering oscillates between realism and material abstraction.
