Description
This immersive artwork unfolds as a meditative landscape of texture and light. The Polish artist employs a refined blend of acrylics and plaster to create a surface that feels living. Deep fractures intersect with smooth expanses, suggesting a dialogue between vulnerability and resilience. A muted palette of slate grey and ethereal white dominates the composition. These cool tones are interrupted by sudden, emotive bursts of magenta and soft violet.
The composition avoids figurative representation to focus on the raw energy of the medium. Thick layers of pigment build a tactile terrain that mimics natural erosion or celestial clouds. Strategic applications of gold leaf introduce a sacred dimension, offering small glimmers of hope amidst the atmospheric tension. Every scar in the paint becomes a visual record of time and emotion. The resulting image exists in a suspended state between silence and drama. It invites the viewer into a contemplative space where the invisible becomes tangible. The eye wanders through rhythmic horizontal lines and organic swells of color, ending on the precise detail of a weathered, mineral surface.
Presentation
Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist based in Italy. With an academic background in economics, she later embraced an autonomous artistic journey, driven by a deep spiritual search and the desire to give form to the unseen.
Her work emerges from silence and unfolds as a meditative act. Using acrylics, crackle paste, pigments and gold leaf, GAS crafts vibrant, textured surfaces where every fracture holds memory and every layer becomes emotional terrain. The material becomes time, the crack a scar, and the gold a glimmer of sacred presence.
Her paintings do not depict; they evoke. Cracks speak of vulnerability and strength, of a holiness revealed through imperfection. Her palette — deep, restrained, at times dramatic — opens contemplative spaces, poised between tension and stillness, body and spirit.
Each title is a threshold: a symbolic entry into a suspended realm where visual language becomes meditation, a secular prayer, a passage through the invisible.
Her works have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina, and the United Kingdom, in spaces dedicated to contemporary research and the dialogue between artistic languages. For GAS, every exhibition is a natural extension of the creative process — a moment of shared introspection.
