Description
This abstract composition unfolds as a meditative study of texture and time. The artist creates an emotional terrain where materials speak of vulnerability and resilience. Earthy tones dominate the palette. Muted greys blend into warm ochres and deep browns. A central horizontal band cuts across the canvas. This area features a complex network of fissures. These cracks act as scars. They reveal the depth of the layers beneath.
The surface possesses a tactile quality. Acrylics and pigments merge with crackle paste to simulate weathered stone or ancient parchment. Vertical drips suggest a slow passage of time. These fluid lines soften the rigid geometry of the central break. The balance between stability and decay transforms the artwork into a contemplative space. It exists between tension and stillness. The viewer is invited into a suspended realm of introspection. Every fracture becomes a detail of a larger spiritual narrative. The focus rests on the dialogue between the raw materiality of the surface and the invisible forces that shape it. This interaction is highlighted by the organic placement of the textured ridges.
Presentation
Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist based in Italy. With an academic background in economics, she later embraced an autonomous artistic journey, driven by a deep spiritual search and the desire to give form to the unseen.
Her work emerges from silence and unfolds as a meditative act. Using acrylics, crackle paste, pigments and gold leaf, GAS crafts vibrant, textured surfaces where every fracture holds memory and every layer becomes emotional terrain. The material becomes time, the crack a scar, and the gold a glimmer of sacred presence.
Her paintings do not depict; they evoke. Cracks speak of vulnerability and strength, of a holiness revealed through imperfection. Her palette — deep, restrained, at times dramatic — opens contemplative spaces, poised between tension and stillness, body and spirit.
Each title is a threshold: a symbolic entry into a suspended realm where visual language becomes meditation, a secular prayer, a passage through the invisible.
Her works have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina, and the United Kingdom, in spaces dedicated to contemporary research and the dialogue between artistic languages. For GAS, every exhibition is a natural extension of the creative process — a moment of shared introspection.
