Description
In The Fish of Absence, a painting created in oil on canvas in 2026, I explore memory and the persistence of what is no longer there. The human figure, surrounded by red fish, is situated in an ambiguous space between reality and imagination. The fish symbolize memories and presences that remain despite absence. I work with visible, gestural brushstrokes, combining green and blue tones with the intense red of the fish to create contrast and reinforce their symbolic dimension.
Presentation
Jesús Alejandro Faura Betancourt (1974) is a Cuban visual artist whose career has developed within the field of contemporary painting. He studied at the Elementary School of Art and the Professional School of Art in Las Tunas, Cuba, between 1986 and 1993, where he developed a solid technical and conceptual foundation.
His work lies between figuration and a free interpretation of reality, exploring memory, identity and emotional experience through figure, color, form and material. His pictorial language combines observation and introspection to create images of strong presence and sensitivity.
