Description
The Invisible Weight presents a contemplative figure surrounded by a space dominated by warm and deep tones. Red fish move through the composition, creating a visual dialogue with the figure and a sense of movement and tension. The visible, gestural brushwork, together with the layering of colors, adds dynamism and depth to the pictorial surface. The work suggests the presence of something that remains within us, even when it cannot always be seen, evoking a sense of weight, reflection and silence.
Presentation
Jesús Alejandro Faura Betancourt (1974) is a Cuban visual artist whose career has developed within the field of contemporary painting. He studied at the Elementary School of Art and the Professional School of Art in Las Tunas, Cuba, between 1986 and 1993, where he developed a solid technical and conceptual foundation.
His work lies between figuration and a free interpretation of reality, exploring memory, identity and emotional experience through figure, color, form and material. His pictorial language combines observation and introspection to create images of strong presence and sensitivity.
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cuba, Italy and Germany. His distinctions include the “Impresión" Salon Award (1988), the “Toulouse Lautrec" Salon Award (1992), and an Honorable Mention at the “La Plástica en Abril" Salon (2006).
Faura Betancourt's works are held in private collections in Europe and the United States. His work is present on various international art and auction platforms, expanding his reach among collectors in different markets and strengthening his presence in the international contemporary art circuit. He currently lives in Spain.
