Description
Submerged World presents a central figure immersed in a dreamlike space, surrounded by fish that move through the composition and create a continuous visual rhythm. The palette of blues and reds establishes an intense contrast, while the visible, gestural and expressive brushwork brings movement and depth to the pictorial surface. The figure, rendered with precision within a freer and more dynamic environment, creates a tension between stillness and movement. The work explores a sense of suspension and transformation, creating a space where the everyday takes on a poetic dimension.
Presentation
Jesús Alejandro Faura Betancourt (1974) is a Cuban visual artist whose career has developed within the field of contemporary painting. He studied at the Elementary School of Art and the Professional School of Art in Las Tunas, Cuba, between 1986 and 1993, where he developed a solid technical and conceptual foundation.
His work lies between figuration and a free interpretation of reality, exploring memory, identity and emotional experience through figure, color, form and material. His pictorial language combines observation and introspection to create images of strong presence and sensitivity.
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cuba, Italy and Germany. His distinctions include the “Impresión" Salon Award (1988), the “Toulouse Lautrec" Salon Award (1992), and an Honorable Mention at the “La Plástica en Abril" Salon (2006).
