Description
The painter uses a palette of muted tones. Bluish grays mix with ochres and faded greens. The light seems to filter through a light mist, erasing the horizon line.
The pictorial treatment favors texture. The touches are short, almost hatched, creating a tactile relief on the canvas. The verticality of the bare trees rhythms the composition and guides the reading towards the center of the painting.
The whole exudes a deep calm. Nature reclaims its ground around the dwelling, almost absorbed by the vegetation. The balance of masses creates a sensation of stability.
This oil painting is distinguished by its chromatic finesse. It captures the suspended moment of a winter evening. The work is signed in the bottom right.
Presentation
A contemporary painter born in 1962 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, André Boubounelle paints landscapes in the classical manner, at a time when practices often put aside the pictorial and the figurative. Whether luminous or misty, his landscapes are never animated and exude a delicate poetry, a harmonious melancholy. This gives a rare emotional intensity to his paintings: as if in immersion, we walk through familiar landscapes of Burgundy, Ile de France, the sunny countryside under the snow, the Vexin, northern Brittany through Tuscany.
Graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1983. Prize from the Casa de Velázquez, Institut de France, resident from 1991 to 1993. Prize of the Wildenstein Foundation in 1993,
The departmental domain of the Vallée-aux-Loup, La Maison de Chateaubriand in Chatenay-Malabry devoted an important exhibition to him in 2019, under the aegis of Marc Fumaroli (1932-2020), of the Académie Française.
Pont-l'Evêque, Espace Culturel Les Dominicaines, devoted an important exhibition to him "Le Voyage Immobile" from 19 March to 8 May 2022
