Description
A silhouette emerges from a dark and atmospheric background. The human figure appears here stripped bare. It blends into a wash of earth tones and ochre. The line is sketched. Thin white lines come to highlight the contours of the body. They bring a fragile light to the whole.
The work of the material favors texture. The grain of the support remains visible under the layers of paint. This approach creates a subtle relief. The face remains indistinct. The absence of precise features invites introspection. The viewer focuses on the posture and volume.
The composition plays on the contrasts of luminosity. The left part of the painting lightens progressively. This chromatic transition guides the gaze towards the top of the head. The rendering evokes a solitary presence. The visual balance rests on the verticality of the form. The palette is limited to natural and muted tones.
Presentation
François Sauvage is a self-taught artist whose particularity is the modeling of leather. After spending fourteen years in art workshops in Paris, he developed a unique technique that allowed him to shape life-size leather figures. Exhibited and sold all over the world, this particular mastery earned him to collaborate in the renovation of prestigious places where his decoration proposals combined aesthetics and refinement.
Since 2021 he has devoted himself entirely to his passions: clay and painting.
His large-format paintings impose and reveal a palette of colors that are sometimes soothing, playful with a pure lightness, at the same time powerful, deep and sensitive.
