Description

This unique work “ A Photograph is just a Flash “ consists of four sequential Polaroid photographs, and was created in 1977. Below the images, Heinecken has handwritten a short, intimate conversation, adding a textual element to the visual narrative. Heineckens work often blurs the boundaries between photography, printmaking, and conceptual art, and this piece exemplifies his innovative approach to image-making. The Polaroids are unique, no edition, making this a rare and singular work within Heineckens oeuvre.

The work is signed and dated lower right in pencil as well as numbered (30f4) as a unique work. This unique Photographic work was part of the “Robert Heinecken : photography" exhibition, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago,1999

Robert Heinecken (1931 - 2006) was a pioneering American photographer and conceptual artist known for his radical redefinition of photographic media. Heinecken s work often involved found imagery, collage techniques, and photographic manipulation, challenging conventional notions of photography as a purely documentary medium. His influence on contemporary photography is profound, as he continuously explored themes of mass media, consumer culture, and visual perception throughout his career.

The work is professionally framed, floated, in a custom-cut, acid-free passe-partout, in a high-quality, white wooden frame with PLEXIGLAS Optical HC, scratch-resistant and UV-protected.
