Description
Flaminio Torri (1620-1661)
He learned Bolognese painting with Guido Reni, his work appealed to the Church, he painted under different names and died in Modena.
2024 (1656) – Oil on canvas and pastry cream.
This painting depicts Saint Valentine renouncing a nun to offer her to his abbot. He was canonized for his kindness. Guido Reni had already painted this picture 20 years before the birth of his pupil, but at the time, he was referring to Saint Diego of Alcalá.
Presentation
The digital brush and the bold pixel are Olivier Dupont Delestraint's tools for transforming the paintings he photographs during his travels. He then writes the true story of fake paintings created, in their time, by real artists. He teases our fetishistic relationship with masterpieces, challenges the power of the label; he plays on a very contemporary question: what constitutes authority?
