Description
François Clouet (1520-1572)
The son of his father, he succeeded him as official court painter, and went on to paint many kings and queens. His work consists largely of three-quarter left-facing portraits.
2024 (1598) – Sandblasted tile on organza veil.
On display in the summer at the Orléans Museum of Fine Arts. The man resembles Vincent I of Mantua, but the arrangement of the fruit on a bed of whipped cream doesn't immediately suggest Italy. It looks more like a strawberry from the Touraine region.
Presentation
The digital brush and the bold pixel are Olivier Dupont Delestraint's tools for transforming the paintings he photographs during his travels. He then writes the true story of fake paintings created, in their time, by real artists. He teases our fetishistic relationship with masterpieces, challenges the power of the label; he plays on a very contemporary question: what constitutes authority?
