Description
Claude Monet (1840-1926)
On Boudin's advice, he left Le Havre for Paris. He achieved great success at the 1866 Salon with Woman in a Green Dress. He settled in Giverny in 1883.
2023 (1893) – Oil on canvas and plastic sheeting.
This is the very last series of that Claude painted during the 1893 summer. Very impressed by American artists works, he transposed their installations onto his representations of Giverny's surroundings. Almost a century later, it was while walking at the MFA Boston that Christo and Jeanne-Claude designed.
Presentation
The digital brush and the bold pixel are Olivier Dupont Delestraint's tools for transforming the paintings he photographs during his travels. He then writes the true story of fake paintings created, in their time, by real artists. He teases our fetishistic relationship with masterpieces, challenges the power of the label; he plays on a very contemporary question: what constitutes authority?
