Description
Analog photograph of Bze on the Moroccan road
unique print, Glossy Paper.
Bze (2004) hand-enhanced by ZENTWO and bze
posca, painting, pencil
"Photos of the road, the street, the margin and its people"
This print is from the book "OVERGROUND, déroutants voyageurs", 2006, Bze & Tomski, Paris, Editions Alternatives.
This composition marries the rigor of the landscape and the freedom of the gesture. A Moroccan horizon stretches under a dark sky, captured with precision. The photograph serves here as a foundation for a graphic exploration.
The white line streaks across the image with assurance. This contemporary calligraphy dialogues with the horizon line. The movement is fluid. The letters intertwine in an abstract style that recalls the energy of graffiti.
Splashes of ink and acrylic punctuate the space. They add a tactile dimension to the fine art print. This play of contrasts opposes the fixity of the shot to the spontaneity of the marker.
The whole creates a bridge between documentary photography and urban art. The eye travels between the depth of the landscape and the flat surface of the paper. The work ends with a textured border where discreet inscriptions frame the scene.
Presentation
Bze has been tagging since he was 12. He writes on his school table, his clothes, the walls and public transport in his environment.
In parallel with university studies in photography and cinema, Bze explored the underground corners of Europe with his film camera, hunting for the aesthetics of the road, the street, the margins and its people. Since 1999, through exhibitions and slideshows between Granada and Rotterdam, he has shared his thousands of slides. In 2006, Bze finalized his photographic journey with a book called Overground, confusing travelers published by Éditions Alternatives. A unique, almost sociological look, revealed by a selection of more than 600 photographs of the counterculture with its communities, demonstrations, squats, free parties...
Following his meeting with the artist Nef, they created the Nef&bze© graphic studio (focused on electronic music).
Returning to his roots, the aesthetics of the letter, Bze devotes himself in the studio to painting on canvas or paper. His contemporary calligraphy, Neo-writer, tends towards minimal abstractionism.
An artistic journey marked by diversity and authenticity, a thirst to share.
