Description

Unique exhibition print from an analog photograph by Bze

Bernard Plossu for exhibition curator, Lyon Off Biennale 2007

High-quality Glossy photo paper mounted on Dibon aluminum and mounted in an aluminum frame on the back

This print is from the book "OVERGROUND, déroutants voyageurs", 2006, Bze & Tomski, Paris, Editions Alternatives.
"Photos of the road, the street, the margin and its people"

This shot captures a moment of absolute freedom. A female silhouette rises, arms raised to the sky, facing a horizon saturated with tents. The composition places the viewer behind the subject, creating an immediate immersion in the atmosphere of a gathering.
Natural light bathes the scene in a soft clarity. The ochre and earthy tones of the ground contrast with the blue shades of the temporary shelters. This landscape documents a precise social reality, that of nomadic communities and alternative cultures.
The eye settles on the details of daily life: a white van, distant silhouettes, the texture of the fabrics. The art print technique preserves the finesse of the contours and the depth of field.
The image oscillates between the intimate portrait and the panoramic view. It freezes a collective emotion in a rural and stripped-down setting. This photograph from 2007 testifies to an aesthetic of travel and the margins. It is presented here in the form of an art print.

Presentation

Bze has been tagging since he was 12. He writes on his school table, his clothes, the walls and public transport in his environment.

In parallel with university studies in photography and cinema, Bze explored the underground corners of Europe with his film camera, hunting for the aesthetics of the road, the street, the margins and its people. Since 1999, through exhibitions and slideshows between Granada and Rotterdam, he has shared his thousands of slides. In 2006, Bze finalized his photographic journey with a book called Overground, confusing travelers published by Éditions Alternatives. A unique, almost sociological look, revealed by a selection of more than 600 photographs of the counterculture with its communities, demonstrations, squats, free parties...

Following his meeting with the artist Nef, they created the Nef&bze© graphic studio (focused on electronic music).

Returning to his roots, the aesthetics of the letter, Bze devotes himself in the studio to painting on canvas or paper. His contemporary calligraphy, Neo-writer, tends towards minimal abstractionism.

An artistic journey marked by diversity and authenticity, a thirst to share.
