Description
This photograph captures a suspended moment under light rain. A white caravan stands out in a blurred environment. The composition plays on the diffraction of light and the effect of droplets on the lens.
The image explores the banality of everyday life with a conceptual approach. The contours fade. The colors remain soft, almost ethereal.
The gaze focuses on this still silhouette, a symbol of travel and waiting. The figurative composition gives way to a contemplative atmosphere.
This work is based on a precise technique of pigment ink printing. The rendering on fine art paper ensures chromatic stability and grain fineness.
Created in 2023, this piece is part of a reflection on nostalgia and human trajectories. The centered framing reinforces the solitude of the vehicle against the natural elements. Limited edition of 10 copies. Series of all formats of 25 copies.
Presentation
Sophie Moisan is a photographer. She lives and works in Paris, France.
Her photographic approach has been built over the years around a deeply personal vision, imbued with emotion and intimacy. Inspired by impressionism, she explores a photography that does not seek to faithfully reproduce reality, but to translate the sensitive perception of it. Blur, alterations, deformations of the image become a language, a way to evoke states of mind, memories, inner resonances.
Her relationship with photography is rooted very early. As a child, she discovers her mother's work, a photojournalist, who had set up her photo lab at home. The hours spent developing images under the red light of the laboratory constitute foundational memories for her. At the age of seven, she takes up a first photographic device. Her very first image — a trivial, almost absurd photograph — already marks an intuitive and conceptual relationship to the image.
Sophie Moisan then trains at the École Supérieure de Réalisations Audiovisuelles (ESRA). She first focuses on the world of advertising and audiovisual creation, working as a copywriter/concept writer within agencies such as RSCG Havas and Dassas Jaglin, then as a screenwriter for France Télévisions.
A personal event marks her finally back to her first practice: art photography in limited edition prints. She fully engages in it then, not as a simple visual medium, but as a space for inner exploration.
For Sophie Moisan, photographing consists as much of exploring the inside as of capturing the outside. She transforms the image from the moment of shooting, introducing blurs, deformations, and fragments to translate the fragile poetry of simple and everyday moments. The rain, omnipresent in her work, becomes a sensitive material: ephemeral drops, possible tears, traces of melancholy or an unspeakable happiness.
Her images invite the viewer to project their own memory, to inhabit the image with their story.
