This striking black-and-white artwork captures the serene form of a contemplative figure reflected in a mirror-like surface. The subject is depicted in a fetal position, evoking themes of vulnerability and introspection. The smooth, uninterrupted symmetry created by the reflection heightens the visual impact, inviting viewers to explore notions of duality and self-perception. The stark contrast between the figure’s skin and the dark background accentuates the curves and contours of the body, creating a harmonious blend of light and shadow. This work is notable for its minimalist yet profound composition, which speaks to the essence of human existence and reflection. The image commands attention through its simplicity and depth, encouraging a meditative engagement with the interplay of form, light, and introspection.

"In a few photographers like Mauricio Velez does aesthetic become ethic. Every portrait scene is seamless. Every composition is an impeccable piece: the light, gesture, even the preference of his subjects. Nothing can be discredited of the photographic style nor the clean technique. And for this aesthetic perfection, the message lands to the viewer in its pure state."
