Description
Flower Power, by Dutch artist Fake, shows a kneeling black-and-white figure holding out a pink flower, the only touch of colour in the image. A simple gesture that revives the pacifist spirit of 1960s flower power. The crispness of the screenprint heightens the contrast between black and white and the brightness of the pink.
Based in Amsterdam, Fake made his name in the street with stencils: clear, instantly readable images that play with everyday icons and pop culture, with humour and a touch of provocation. His stated aim is to make passers-by smile. His work has been exhibited in galleries from the Netherlands to the United States, including Denmark, Germany and Iran.
Screenprint on paper, 2024. Limited edition of 35. 70 × 70 cm.
Presentation
Fake is a Dutch artist currently living and working in Amsterdam.
Having grown up in a gray and boring environment, Fake quickly felt the urgency to bring smiles to the people around him through humorous and ironic art. He then discovered the power of stencils and became fascinated by this new medium.
Fake has a very clear and precise base of images with which he has always worked. His very colorful creations represent icons of daily life and the pop imagination, a little provocative, they always contain a good dose of humor and irony.
Fake's work is presented in various exhibitions in several galleries around the world, from Holland to Iran via the United States, Denmark and Germany.
