Description
This artwork captures a surreal and minimalist scene, emphasizing themes of isolation and anticipation. It features a stark room with deep navy walls contrasting against a vibrant red floor, creating a striking visual tension. Three elongated black shadows stretch dramatically from the ceiling to the floor, suggesting the presence of implied barriers or curtains. At the center of the composition, a single baseball rests, its round form and white surface starkly juxtaposed against the angular, colorful backdrop. Small, scattered yellow circles add a touch of whimsy and intrigue, breaking the rigid symmetry of the scene. The spatial ambiguity raises questions about perspective and reality, while the deliberate simplicity invites viewers to delve into its enigmatic narrative. The artwork's use of bold colors and geometric precision challenges conventional interpretations, making it a compelling exploration of space and form.
Presentation
Rusa Tavartkiladze is a female Georgian artist born in 1990 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her practice moves along the edge of modernism and its afterlives. Her own artworks push beyond formalism, rooted in modernist foundations. They expand toward humor, philosophy, sarcasm, and mysticism. Each piece becomes a space where rational structures meet ambiguity, where order dissolves into play, and where meaning flickers between irony and transcendence.
