Kandinsky Prize in 1952. Gold Medal in Fine Arts in 1982. National Fine Arts Award in 1999. Velázquez Prize in 3004.
His artwork is based on a linear abstraction that began with post impressionist experiences in the pass to XX century, and reached the purest minimalism in the 60´s.
