LeRoy Neiman (1921-2012) Known the world over for his striking, vibrant depictions of sporting events, leisure activities and other social gatherings, Leroy Neiman is indisputably one of the most popular and widely known artists of the modern era. Neiman's work is instantly recognizable by his brilliantly colored, semi-abstract paintings and screen prints of well known athletes, famous locations, sporting events, wildlife and Hollywood celebrities. Labeled an American Impressionist, Neiman's artistic ability conveys the essence of a game or contestant with great impact, from the Kentucky Derby to the Super Bowl. He has been the official artist at five Olympiads, and perhaps one of the the best known American artists.

The United States Born in: 1921
Leroy Neiman is an American artist, born in 1921 and died in 2012.

During the Second World War, Leroy Neiman was old enough to serve his country and joined the army until 1956. It was only when he came back that he studied art. He did a course at St-Paul School of Art to begin with, before joining the art institute of Chicago and teaching.

His art stands out through its sparkling and bright colors, his painting is expressionist and semi-abstract.

In 1954, he put his talent at the disposal of Playboy magazine and produced a number of creations. Neiman began a world tour in 1960 during which he soaked in sporty and entertaining images, which he came across.

Sports events became his favorite theme. He covered several international events such as the Olympic games, Super bowl or the Wimbledon. Neiman was also fascinated by the nocturnal life and depicted the universe of casinos and the jazzy atmospheres. He created several silkscreen paintings and they became famous.
