Description
Nuke Duke is a polished bronze sculpture from the Monsters series by contemporary artist Marcelo Martin Burgos. The sculpture features a animal-like monster walking.
Marcelo Burgos' artistic universe is deeply rooted in childhood: children's dreams and nightmares, populated by fantastic creatures, demons, monsters and dragons, provide the artist with his primary source of inspiration. Far from being frightening, these creatures, with their golden surfaces, evoke statues of divinity that provide both protection and comfort.
Marcelo Martin Burgos uses bronze for his sculptures, a material he appreciates for its nobility, versatility and, above all, for the way its surface looks when polished: mirror-like reflections. This reflective aspect is a way of including the viewer in his work.

Presentation
Marcelo Martin Burgos was born in La Plata, Argentina, in 1971.
In his own words, “A kid could have done that" is perhaps the single, biggest compliment I pursue with my work. I've spent most of my life trying to unlearn art school, to forget art history and to dismantle the notion of the self, looking to regain the true sense of freedom and joy I had making art as a young boy."
He currently lives and works in between Madrid and Buenos Aires where he complements his career as a sculptor with his work as a filmmaker.
