Description
This artwork, part of the "Transplantation" series, explores the intricate connections between humanity and nature. Enclosed within a glass structure that enhances its fragility and transparency, it features a complex composition intertwining red and black threads, evoking both neural networks and plant roots. The installation plays with the concept of entanglement: the threads appear to alternately protect and imprison, while the glass acts as both a barrier and a showcase, revealing a delicate coexistence between the internal and external. This work is part of a broader reflection on symbiosis and transformation. Through powerful visual elements, it questions the boundaries between the organic and the artificial, the individual and the collective. The metaphor of xenografting, invoked by the artist, becomes a poetic gesture: the idea that humanity and nature can mutually reshape each other, transcending their separation to create a new balance. Through this installation, the viewer is invited to explore concepts such as regeneration, memory, and grounding, while engaging in a meditation on ecological and spiritual coexistence.
Presentation
French visual artist VAM oscillates between the archetypes of the feminine and the drifts of the Anthropocene.
Employing a variety of mediums – video, installations, sewing, photography, engraving... – she explores distortions of self-image through an intergenerational lens.
Her recent works focus particularly on the connection to the plant world, developing hypotheses of genetic mutation and human/nature hybridization.
She exhibits regularly in France and internationally.
