Description
This striking sculpture captures two female figures in an expressive dance, symbolizing freedom and ecstasy. The bronze material chosen lends a timeless robustness to the ensemble, while allowing for an impressive fluidity of form. The bodies focus attention on the dynamic movements and harmonious interaction between the two dancers. They appear suspended, capturing a fleeting moment of pure joy. The sinuous lines of their bodies echo each other in a subtle interplay of balance and tension, evoking contemporary dance. The solid rectangular base anchors this eventful scene in reality, contrasting with the airy lightness of the figures. This work exudes a palpable energy, encouraging the viewer to surrender to the rhythm and emotion it exudes with quiet power.
Presentation
Pere Sala presents a work of classical root but with very contemporary connotations, both in terms of the theme and the great dynamism of its compositions.
His bronzes remind us of the great masters of the 19th century, due to their great mastery of technique, finishes and patinae. The artist wisely models female and male bodies in equilibrium positions but never forced, capturing with great delicacy the energy, beauty and indolence of youth until it reaches the viewer's emotion.
