Description
This captivating sculpture depicts a joyful figure poised to embark on a journey of remarkable intensity. Sculpted with meticulous precision, it elegantly combines polished and raw stone, creating a striking contrast between smooth and rough textures. The woman's dynamic posture, with her head slightly inclined and her hands delicately resting on her chest, evokes a sense of inner strength and resilience. The finely sculpted drapery of her garment adds another dimension to the work, accentuating the fluidity of movement. The expressive details of her face, marked by a determined serenity, captivate the viewer and invite reflection on human emotion. This work conveys a quiet power, celebrating strength and grace. It embodies a harmonious fusion of technique and emotion, making this sculpture an impressive and unforgettable masterpiece.
Presentation
For 60 years, the Zimbabwean sculptors' movement has been considered a major force in contemporary art. Currently, several Zimbabwean artists are among the most renowned sculptors in the world. Better known since its origins as Shona art, this art intrigues and captivates with the modernity of its works. It is African art, yet contemporary, spontaneous art without reference to ancestral tradition.
