Description
This work humorously repurposes an everyday object, transforming it into a contemporary sculpture.
In a glass box with black trim, a toilet paper dispenser is suspended in the center of the space. But instead of a conventional roll, the artist has used a metallic material reminiscent of fine wire mesh or silver industrial netting. The roll appears to float against a mirrored background that reflects the object and amplifies its presence.
The contrast between the commonplace, almost trivial object and the preciousness of the metal creates an effect that is both unexpected and elegant. The mirror accentuates this ambiguity: what should be functional becomes purely contemplative. The work thus plays on notions of value, consumption, and the transformation of the everyday into an object of art.
With its minimalist aesthetic, metallic reflections and subtle humor, this sculpture questions our relationship to the most ordinary objects, reminding us that art can emerge where we least expect it.
Presentation
In each sculpture, Sagrasse places a fragment of humanity, an emotion kneaded into the material, like a breath that crosses time.
Born in 1966 in Macerata, in the Marche region of Italy, Sagrasse has dedicated his life to sculpture for over thirty years. Driven by a constant passion for material and form, he has developed an artistic language that is both contemporary and profoundly human.
His works are exhibited throughout the world, in galleries, private exhibitions, and spaces dedicated to art. This international career reflects a recognition acquired over time, driven by the sincerity and strength of his work.
Sagrasse's creations address contemporary and universal themes : ecology, social ideologies, and the relationship between man and his environment. His sculpture thus becomes a space for reflection, where consciousness and aesthetics, questioning and emotion intertwine.
