Description
The assembly is organized around a horizontal structure evoking the silhouette of a ship. Driftwood dominates the composition. Each fragment is chosen for its natural shape and patina.
The artist superimposes heterogeneous elements. Coils, wood scraps, and touches of blue and green pigments punctuate the raw material. These details suggest the mechanisms of a deck or the equipment of a side.
The play of volumes creates a marked relief. The line stretches forward, while vertical elements imitate masts or antennas. The balance rests on the meticulous accumulation of salvaged pieces.
The palette remains organic. Beige and gray tones mix with discreet colored accents. The assembly plays with the transparency and density of the materials.
The whole rests on a sculptural base that seems to float against the wall. The composition ends with a lower appendage reminiscent of a propeller or a rudder.
Presentation
David-Henri Duart develops an artistic approach that he defines as an aesthetic of waste. Collecting plastic fragments along the Mediterranean coast, he strives to capture these discards before they join the sea to make them spring forth with forgotten stories and worlds.
Through these stagings, David-Henri Duart invites the spectator to explore imaginary territories where plastic, diverted from its primary function, becomes the support of a poetic and engaged narration.
