Surrealismus

Der Surrealismus gilt als eine der einflussreichsten und langlebigsten Kunstbewegungen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er entstand im Paris der 1920er Jahre rund um André Breton und wurde von den Erkenntnissen Sigmund Freuds über das Unbewusste, den Traum und das automatische Schreiben geprägt. Durch die Ablehnung rationaler Logik und bürgerlicher Kunstkonventionen erschloss er ein neues künstlerisches Terrain, in dem das Fremde, das Wunderbare und das Unheimliche in Kompositionen zusammenfinden, die die gewohnte Wahrnehmung der Realität außer Kraft setzen.

Salvador Dalí mit seinen traumartigen Landschaften voller schmelzender Uhren, René Magritte mit seinen vertrauten Objekten in unmöglichen Zusammenhängen, Max Ernst mit seinen hybriden Collagen oder Joan Miró mit seinen biomorphen Formen in unbestimmten Farbräumen veranschaulichen die Vielfalt der Bildsprachen innerhalb einer Bewegung, die von der Überzeugung getragen wird, dass Kunst aus den Tiefen des Unbewussten schöpfen muss, um zu einer Wirklichkeit vorzudringen, die wahrer ist als die sichtbare Realität.

Dieses Erbe prägt die zeitgenössische Kunst bis heute nachhaltig. Zahlreiche Künstler greifen surrealistische Ideen auf und entwickeln Werke, die mit Traumwelten, Irritationen und unerwarteten Verbindungen spielen – in einer Zeit, in der die Grenzen zwischen Realität und Virtualität, Bewusstem und Unbewusstem durchlässiger erscheinen denn je.

Auf Artsper vereint diese Auswahl Werke, die dieses grundlegende Erbe fortführen, und zeigt die anhaltende Lebendigkeit einer Bewegung, deren Erkenntnisse über das Unbewusste und die Vorstellungskraft die zeitgenössische Kunst weit über ihren ursprünglichen historischen Kontext hinaus inspirieren.
