Es ist nicht verwunderlich, dass die griechischen und römischen Werke, die in Kunstgalerien und Museen zu finden sind, nachfolgende Künstlergenerationen im Laufe der Jahrhunderte stets beeinflusst haben. Künstler von Pablo Picasso bis Keith Haring empfanden das antike Griechenland in ihren künstlerischen Darstellungen häufig nach. So sind zeitgenössische Künstler, die sich von der Kunstgeschichte inspirieren lassen, kein neues Phänomen, sondern ein Spiegelbild ihrer Zeit und ein Spiegelbild der unseren. Ob auf direkte oder indirekte Weise, es spricht viel dafür, dass klassisch inspirierte Illustrationskünstler ihr Werk bis hin zu den alten Meistern der Renaissance ableiten. In der Auswahl von Artsper kann man sich mit den Werken von Hom Nguyen befassen, dessen bildnerische Forschung sich ständig erneuert und auf monumentalen Porträts basiert, die weit über das Äußere hinausgehen. Die unvollendeten figurativen Zeichnungen von Claude Weisbuch erinnern an die unvollendeten Skizzen der alten Meister, da sie die Komposition eines zukünftigen Themas andeuten.
