Bernard Gantner

Bernard Gantner

Born in: 1928

France

Bernard Gantner is a French painter, born on 16th August, 1928 in Belfort. He has been attracted by art since his childhood and began oil painting under Léon Delarbre's wing, who those days was the curator of the Beaux Arts museum in Belfort. Bernard Gantner is an accomplished artist and has made a name for himself abroad, he is known for his winter landscapes which depict great poetic strength. His drawings are inspired by his direct contact with nature and are portrayed in most of his oil paintings and watercolors, or even lithography which he creates on stone and not zinc. A prolific artist, in the time span of 50 years, he has made almost 80 paintings per year, which comes to 4000 items, but also 700 watercolors, 500 lithographs, 100 etchings and illustrations of 11 works of bibliophile. If one were to visit his personal museum at Lachapelle-sous-Chaux, one would find an arboretum, an animal park and gardens.
