Maeduep: An aubergine #2, 2023 by WKND Lab. From the series Tying Wishes . Cotton rope, brass . Color: Ivory, gold . Usage: Candle sconce / Backflow Incense Burner
A candle sconce constructed with cotton rope, viscose casing, and brass. The brass part is made by a metal turning master who worked as a technician for more than 45 years. The rope is developed especially for the piece by WKND Lab. The meaning behind it follows the same as an aubergine knot- making method. Traditionally, people associated an aubergine with babies because of the roundness and cuteness of the vegetable, which turned into a meaning of wishing the receiver a happy baby and a wonderful family.
