Description
This abstract drawing is distinguished by the skilful use of watercolour, with bright colours such as yellow, sky blue and orange. The artist plays with geometric shapes and fluid lines, creating a dynamic composition where overlays and transparencies bring captivating depth. The circular and angular shapes seem to be in motion, evoking a universe in transition.
The subtle integration of natural motifs, such as trees and leaves, connects abstraction with reality, enriching interpretation. The alternation of warm and cold tones creates a visual harmony, bringing both energy and tranquility.
This work demonstrates the sensitivity of the artist, who manages to combine complexity and simplicity. Every element, from colour to shape, contributes to a rich and engaging visual experience.
Presentation
Joel Giraud was born in 1961 in Etampes. He graduated from the Ecole nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des métiers d'art in 1983. He was Philippe Lejeune's student at the Etampes School and has been appointed official painter of the Army.
He is particularly interested in painting, and he produces excellent compositions, playing with shapes, rhythms and colorful universes, where he places the human body thanks to his mastery of the living model. In addition to easel painting, he also paints murals for public commissions.
Trained at the Louvre Museum workshops in modeling, he perfected his technique in a sculpture workshop, and then produced sculpture for shows, theater, and film sets. His own sculpture often refers to the human body. His abstract shapes and volumes are present in his sculptures and in his paintings.
Joel Giraud teaches in the sculpture section of the visual arts workshop of the city of Etampes and is also a plastic arts teacher in various schools.
