Description
What makes modern art interesting and strong is that it is linked to a tradition that is 10 or 20,000 years old, and more. We are all "heirs" who, one day or another, end up finding our way: otherwise we stop, we give up, if we do not have the feeling, the conviction of creation. When I contemplate my studio from the mezzanine, I sometimes feel the sense of contentment that is common to all those who have worked long and hard, and who, from time to time, stop and straighten up to look at the accomplished work in front of them. These are good moments in the morning light and the sun that filters through the windows. There is a kind of living radiation that pushes one to go back, to have confidence, to have ideas, to undertake a new sculpture, a painting...
Presentation
Born in 1920 in a poor peasant family in the Italian mountains, Francesco Marino Di Teana was in turn a shepherd then apprentice bricklayer in Italy (Teana), project manager, architect and student at the Beaux-Arts in Argentina (Buenos Aires) before settling in France at the beginning of the fifties and becoming one the most important sculptor of the second half of the XXth century.
Represented for more than 30 years in the mystical gallery owner Denise René, winner of prestigious artistic prizes and known as one of the most famous creators and art critic of their time (from Vasarely to Giacometti, from Seuphor to Harry Bellet), he is an artist whose works of art and huge creations, always full of timeless modernity and relevant, enrich the most important public and private collections and revitalize our urban spaces.
