Description
An abstract composition centered on a radical contrast. The eye is immediately captured by a luminous vertical band. It imposes itself on a deep, opaque black background.
The artist uses a mixture of chalk and India ink on paper here. This technical choice allows for subtle plays of transparency. Organic and blurred shapes emerge in the light area. They evoke vaporous silhouettes or nocturnal reflections.
The work on the material brings a tactile dimension to the surface. The gray varies according to the intensity of the pigment, creating an atmospheric depth. The balance between shadow and light structures the space with precision.
This creation from 1994 testifies to a search for sobriety. The void and the full are answered in it without artifice. The whole ends with the discreet signature of the author in the lower right corner.
