Description
This captivating work features a large, sculpted monochrome face surrounded by nude human figures, expressing a profound intimacy and collective vulnerability. The design is dominated by an imposing central face, with simplified yet expressive features and large, intensely observant eyes. Around it, a multitude of smaller figures assemble, creating a dense, heterogeneous crowd that evokes community and unity. The panels feature powerful messages such as "Let us dream," "Let us be together," and "Let us live in peace," inscribed within speech bubbles, emphasizing a cry for freedom and peaceful coexistence. The stylized dogs accentuate the dynamics and visual narrative. The black and white contrast reinforces the work's dramatic and timeless character, inviting reflection on human rights and social harmony.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
