Description
This innovative artwork fuses recycled cardboard and drawing to create a striking human figure. The character is accentuated by bright blocks of color, including a red head, which immediately captivate the eye. The playfully drawn eyes add a strong expressiveness. Typographic elements, such as the words "Savoureuse" and "Fabulosa," cover the body, adding a narrative and textured dimension. The raised red buttons introduce a surprising tactile dimension. The artist uses ordinary materials to challenge the conventions of traditional art, creating a piece that is both contemporary and provocative. The contrast between the pristine white background and the graphic patterns reinforces the work's visual presence. Through this bold approach, the work embodies a subtle critique of consumer society, while inviting reflection on art and the materials used.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
