Description

A mysterious sculptural figure emerges from a lively arrangement of violet, burgundy, and turquoise marks. A loosely suggested wreath of roses crowns the figure, while fragmented architectural lines recall the elaborate stonework of Rome's Trevi Fountain. The contrast between dense charcoal textures, spontaneous colored strokes, and untouched white paper gives the composition a sense of movement and incompleteness.

Inspired by a sculptural detail positioned toward the background of the Trevi Fountain, Trevi transforms classical imagery into a personal contemporary interpretation. The figure and surrounding architectural fragments gradually lose their recognizable boundaries, becoming part of an expressive visual language shaped by memory and imagination.

The floral wreath introduces a romantic dimension, suggesting beauty, sensuality, and fragility. Rather than illustrating a specific myth or historical scene, the artist allows these associations to remain open, inviting viewers to discover their own relationship with the imagery.

Oil pastel, colored pencils, acrylic markers, ballpoint pen, and compressed charcoal create an energetic interplay of textures. Broad violet passages contrast with delicate burgundy contours, while bright turquoise areas introduce freshness and visual depth.

This original artwork brings together the elegance of classical sculpture and the immediacy of contemporary drawing. Its fragmented forms reward close observation, revealing new connections between architecture, the human figure, and spontaneous artistic expression.

Materials: Oil pastel, colored pencils, acrylic markers, ballpoint pens, and compressed charcoal on paper.

Shipping / Display: The artwork is shipped rolled in a protective tube and requires framing after delivery.

Violet, lavender, lilac, burgundy, wine red, turquoise blue, pale cyan, charcoal black, graphite gray, ivory white.

For collectors drawn to expressive contemporary drawing, classical sculpture, and imaginative reinterpretations of cultural heritage. Particularly engaging for those who appreciate fragmented figuration, symbolic floral imagery, and artworks that encourage personal interpretation rather than presenting a fixed narrative.

The combination of vivid turquoise, muted violet, and generous white space makes this artwork suitable for contemporary living rooms, studies, libraries, and intimate gallery walls. A simple black or natural wood frame would emphasize its graphic character and complement minimalist or eclectic interiors.

Presentation

Razmakhnina is a contemporary artist whose work operates at the intersection of drawing and painting.

Her practice reinterprets visual motifs from historical European art—particularly the Pre-Raphaelites, as well as Baroque and Rococo painting—translating them into a contemporary, expressive language. Rather than quoting these traditions directly, Razmakhnina transforms familiar cultural images into lighter, more playful, and sometimes deliberately irreverent compositions.

She works with oil pastel, charcoal, and watercolor, intentionally using ready-made colors without blending them. This approach preserves immediacy, spontaneity, and a sense of aliveness—that defines her visual language. Color in her work is direct and tactile, while line remains fluid and graphic, creating a dynamic tension between structure and freedom.

Her compositions often balance elegance with subtle provocation. Classical figures and ornamental references are reimagined through a contemporary sensibility, where beauty becomes accessible, ironic, and emotionally open. The result is a body of work that feels both culturally informed and intuitively fresh.

Razmakhnina is interested in the moment when an image shifts from recognition to reinterpretation—when historical memory gives way to personal perception. She avoids fixed narratives, instead creating visual spaces where meaning remains open and viewers are invited to project their own associations.

Through a distinctive synthesis of historical reference and contemporary gesture, Razmakhnina creates works that celebrate visual pleasure, immediacy, and the ongoing transformation of cultural imagery.
