Description
This vibrant artwork vividly captures a scene of communal joy centered around a long table beneath a lush tree, set against a richly colored landscape. The artist skillfully uses a kaleidoscope of patterns and hues to distinguish each character's attire, infusing the scene with life and diversity. The figures, engaged in lively interaction, evoke a sense of unity and shared experience. The surrounding fields stretch into the distance, offering a serene backdrop of rolling hills and a bright, open sky. Intricate details, such as the varied expressions and movements of the people, reveal a narrative of celebration and fellowship. The artist's striking use of color and texture not only defines the individual elements but also weaves them into a cohesive, dynamic composition. This piece is a testament to the beauty of human connection amidst nature's tranquility.
Presentation
Born in Beirut in 1952, Haibat Balaa Bawab received her BA in Fine Arts in 1975 from Beirut University College (now LAU) and has taught there for 17 years. From 2001 until 2022, she has been the Fine Arts Coordinator and instructor at the American University of Science and Technology (AUST).
This exhibition focuses on a series of Mixed Media Collages and Oil Paintings that reflect a range of current subjects, memories encountered in day-to-day life, which are reflections of topical issues and moments.
Haibat’s process in these Mixed Media Collages involves making papers from textures and motifs that she prepares using different media and techniques. They are multimedia in form, still dominated by Collage themes.
Haibat Balaa Bawab has had multiple solo exhibitions and has participated in several collective exhibitions in Lebanon, Grand Palais de Paris, and many Arab countries. In 2019, she was invited and participated in the 8th Biennale in Beijing. A monograph of her work entitled: "Haibat Balaa Bawab The Art of Collage" was published in 2012.
