Les artistes et Saint-Paul de Vence, 2025

Alione

In this work, Alione composes a luminous interior, widely open onto the famous hilltop village of the French Riviera. This living space, bathed in bold colors and structured by large bay windows, becomes a place of dialogue between intimacy and landscape, between everyday life and artistic imagination.

Through the windows, the gaze drifts toward Saint-Paul de Vence, an emblematic town that welcomed many modern artists, evoking a collective memory of creation.

The presence of brushes, paint tubes, and works in progress introduces a subtle mise en abyme: the act of creating is replayed within the image itself, as if the depicted scene were becoming, in turn, a space of artistic production. This reflection continues in the artworks hanging on the walls, which establish a direct dialogue with the history of modern art.

The portrait, with its clean lines and frontal face, evokes the aesthetic of Pablo Picasso, while the composition with simplified and organic forms recalls the plastic explorations of Henri Matisse. These visual quotations fully contribute to this mise en abyme, placing the work within an acknowledged lineage, between homage and contemporary reinterpretation.

Plants, vivid colors, and simply shaped furniture contribute to a warm and contemplative atmosphere, where art seems to circulate freely.

At the crossroads of street art and contemporary illustration, Alione offers here a reflection on representation itself: a play of mirrors between gaze, memory, and creation.
