Description
This artwork is a striking example of abstract expressionism, featuring a dynamic grid-like composition. It bursts with energy as bold, intersecting lines of various colors—black, blue, yellow, red, and green—cover the canvas. Each hue layers over another, creating an intricate web that both captivates and confounds the viewer's eye. The seemingly chaotic arrangement invites interpretation, evoking emotions and thoughts beyond its visual complexity. The splatters and drips suggest spontaneity and raw emotion, while the underlying structure hints at deliberate composition. This piece exemplifies a unique blend of order and chaos, making it a compelling study of balance and contrast in abstract art.
Presentation
Born in Georgia, he studied Literature at the University of Tbilisi, Georgia. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the University of Warsaw, Poland. He has lived in Buenos Aires since 1995.
The Georgian-Argentine artist Gaios creates a very interesting post-production work using paper as raw material in the form of books, letters or documents. The universe of Literature is the substrate of his artistic work. He rewrites the pages like a medieval scribe using graphics, signs, symbols and ideograms from the universe of visual arts.
The convergence of these two worlds is the leitmotiv of his works. Both universes are syncretized by means of psychic automatism, the artist's drives and impulses, which allow us to visualize the central core of his works: chaos.
We present part of his works forming imaginary Fibonacci series whose numerical sequences were used by Da Vinci, Velázquez and many others. This golden ratio attempts to create new dream books that guide us, without intending to, towards the Borgesian labyrinth, from which we will not be able to escape, because it is infinite and will be our essential prison.
