Description
This striking mixed-media artwork features a textured layering that commands attention. Dominating the composition, a central translucent sheet, crumpled and invitingly tactile, reveals a mesh of complex textures. Beneath this layer, vibrant hues of yellow, red, and black create a dynamic and energetic backdrop. The interplay of colors suggests movement, enhancing the piece's vibrancy. Intriguing handwritten text partially emerges, adding an element of mystery and depth, encouraging viewers to speculate on its narrative. This intermingling of color, texture, and text captivates, inviting viewers to explore its intricacies while pondering the juxtaposition of chaos and order. Such a fusion of material and narrative showcases the artist's innovative approach, offering a tactile experience as much as a visual feast. This artwork is a celebration of abstraction and conveys a tantalizing invitation to engage with its multifaceted layers.
Presentation
Born in Georgia, he studied Literature at the University of Tbilisi, Georgia. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the University of Warsaw, Poland. He has lived in Buenos Aires since 1995.
The Georgian-Argentine artist Gaios creates a very interesting post-production work using paper as raw material in the form of books, letters or documents. The universe of Literature is the substrate of his artistic work. He rewrites the pages like a medieval scribe using graphics, signs, symbols and ideograms from the universe of visual arts.
The convergence of these two worlds is the leitmotiv of his works. Both universes are syncretized by means of psychic automatism, the artist's drives and impulses, which allow us to visualize the central core of his works: chaos.
We present part of his works forming imaginary Fibonacci series whose numerical sequences were used by Da Vinci, Velázquez and many others. This golden ratio attempts to create new dream books that guide us, without intending to, towards the Borgesian labyrinth, from which we will not be able to escape, because it is infinite and will be our essential prison.
