Description
This artwork presents a dynamic combination of collage and mixed media, featuring striking layers of painted and textured materials. The central focus is a dominant irregular red shape, punctuated by bold black and dark earth tones, creating a strong contrast that commands attention. Surrounding this central motif, fragments of paper and clear plastic are interwoven, introducing an interplay of transparency and color, notably blues and yellows. The background, a collage of handwritten text, adds depth and narrative intrigue, inviting viewers to ponder its meaning. The text and color smudges on a wooden floor-like surface infuse the piece with a raw, organic feel, suggesting themes of chaos and harmony. This artwork's unique blend of textures, colors, and text challenges traditional artistic boundaries, offering a thought-provoking visual experience.
Presentation
Born in Georgia, he studied Literature at the University of Tbilisi, Georgia. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the University of Warsaw, Poland. He has lived in Buenos Aires since 1995.
The Georgian-Argentine artist Gaios creates a very interesting post-production work using paper as raw material in the form of books, letters or documents. The universe of Literature is the substrate of his artistic work. He rewrites the pages like a medieval scribe using graphics, signs, symbols and ideograms from the universe of visual arts.
The convergence of these two worlds is the leitmotiv of his works. Both universes are syncretized by means of psychic automatism, the artist's drives and impulses, which allow us to visualize the central core of his works: chaos.
We present part of his works forming imaginary Fibonacci series whose numerical sequences were used by Da Vinci, Velázquez and many others. This golden ratio attempts to create new dream books that guide us, without intending to, towards the Borgesian labyrinth, from which we will not be able to escape, because it is infinite and will be our essential prison.
