This work is part of the triptych “Shiroka Maslyana", a series dedicated to the vibrant, age-old festival of Maslenitsa, a celebration of farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring. While the other pieces in the triptych capture the joy and dynamism of the festivities, "After the Holidays" explores the quiet aftermath—a moment of reflection, nostalgia, and transition.
Concept
Created in 2014, this painting showcases Anatoly Kost's mastery of contemp-abstraction, where movement and stillness merge into a contemplative composition. The subdued palette, dominated by soft blues, warm ochres, and subtle whites, contrasts with the more dynamic strokes, suggesting the lingering warmth of celebration fading into memory. The sun, glowing faintly in the upper part of the canvas, hints at the cyclical nature of time—the festival ends, but its energy remains.
Through bold yet calculated brushstrokes, Kost conveys the essence of transition, the contrast between festive chaos and quiet solitude, movement and stillness. The abstraction allows viewers to interpret their own emotions within the work, as they recall the fleeting moments of joy that define celebrations.

Presentation
Anatoly Kost (Kostyuk) is an outstanding Ukrainian artist, born in Volyn in 1960, and his career has been over 35 years. His works in the style of abstract art are currently in many private European collections and the National Art Museum of Ukraine. With his works, the artist visited international exhibitions. The artist adheres to the concept of the process of transmuting the energy of abstract art into the energy of music or choreography and vice versa, noting their mutual polyphony. An essential factor in the forces of his work are the masterpieces of world musical classics and choreography, which became the basis for determining the personal philosophical direction in abstraction, namely contemp-abstraction (plastic image of the internal state).
