Description
This work features an imposing cliff, majestically emerging from a calm sea, bathed in a pale, diffuse light. The artist brilliantly captures the mineral grandeur and austerity of these steep walls, whose hues oscillate between gray and ochre, subtly contrasting with the stormy, threatening sky. The barely perceptible horizon blurs the line between land and sea, creating an atmosphere that is both mysterious and soothing. The delicately nuanced treatment of textures accentuates the power and solitude of the landscape. This minimalist composition, dominated by cool tones, evokes a sense of serenity and timelessness. The artist captures the ephemeral essence of light and the relentless permanence of the rock, offering the viewer an invitation to silent, introspective contemplation.
Presentation
For the last 30 years, Henri De Quatrebarbes's style, recognizable through its extrordinary color palette, has evolved between two modes of expression : one very simple, based on surfaces of color separated by lines and simple geometric shapes, and another "baroque" universe, in which colors form a ballet in perpetual movement.
In parallel to his studies, Henri De Quatrebarbes has taken for many years drawing and painting courses at the Galerie du Bac, in Paris. During these years he has acquired a great mastery of the techniques he uses and combines.
For the artist, having a different occupation than his practice is a necessity. Henri De Quatrebarbes needs to take part in the life of the community, have a normal everyday life in order to be able to pursue, in parallel, his personal aesthetic research and his inner oniic universe. Henri De Quatrebarbes's creative approach shows the confrontation between the exterior world and the universe of his dreams.
