Description
In this work, I seek to capture vitality and strength, both human and natural. The subject's presence among the delicate hydrangea blossoms is imposing, but its treatment tends toward abstraction. The body and flowers construct new spaces for play and experimentation. The close-up treatment of the body reveals the depth of the water-based glazes, the transparency, the layers that construct gay identity.
Presentation
Initially an actor and videographer for the theatre, Samuel, now sam·e, develops a queer practice of sculpture and painting that deconstructs heroic virility and politically questions the body and its representations.
Her work questions the body as a political and plastic space: how norms shape our emotions and identities.
By weakening and queering the codes of the heroic body, they compose desired and desiring presences that invite new forms of resistance.
