Description
This captivating work is a bold exploration of the human form, dominated by shades of pink, blue, and beige. The artist uses expressive brushstrokes and striking contrasts to capture the essence of the figure, which appears folded, almost abstract. The play of light and shadow sculpts the volume of the muscles and draws the eye to the intricate details of the posture. The bright pink background intensifies the scene, creating emotional tension. The composition is distinguished by its dynamism and raw energy, while the use of bold colors evokes a contemporary sensibility. This piece embodies a powerful fusion of expressionism and abstraction, offering the viewer a deeply sensory and introspective immersion. The overall effect is both provocative and introspective, capturing the essence of human vulnerability and strength.
Presentation
Initially an actor and videographer for the theatre, Samuel, now sam·e, develops a queer practice of sculpture and painting that deconstructs heroic virility and politically questions the body and its representations.
Her work questions the body as a political and plastic space: how norms shape our emotions and identities.
By weakening and queering the codes of the heroic body, they compose desired and desiring presences that invite new forms of resistance.
