Description
This artwork features a large, irregular piece of weathered, golden-brown material, seemingly torn from its original form. Dominating its surface is a bold, contrasting black stripe running horizontally, creating a striking visual tension against the organic backdrop. A narrow, vertical strip on the right houses a small black-and-white photograph of a person, adding a mysterious narrative element. The juxtaposition of the photograph with the rugged material invites reflection on themes of identity and fragility. The rough texture and exposed edges suggest a history of wear, evoking a sense of impermanence. This piece boldly challenges traditional notions of art by eschewing refined finishes in favor of raw authenticity, and its sparse yet deliberate composition makes a powerful impact, encouraging introspection and dialogue.
Presentation
My works play with remains of various, almost all precarious, materials: papers, cardboard, paints, photographs, found objects..., which are combined through a technique that owes a lot to collage. In most cases, the arrangement of the fragments and the randomness of the composition lead the observer into a labyrinth that demands to be interpreted. The confluence of disparate elements resists the inadequacy of a rigid, obsolete system, opening up to a chaos that points towards the configuration of a new order.
