Description
'Falls of Dochart, Killin' depicts a serene yet dynamic landscape, showcasing a river coursing through a rocky foreground. The water flows with palpable movement, skillfully rendered through varying shades of blue and white, capturing its energetic essence. On either side, towering pine trees add a touch of wilderness, their green hues contrasting with the cooler tones of the water. In the middle ground, a quaint stone bridge arches gracefully, connecting the landscape and emphasizing the harmonious blend of nature and human craftsmanship.
The background is dominated by a cloudy sky, with hints of sunlight peeking through, casting a gentle glow on the golden foliage of distant trees. The skilled use of colour and texture evokes a sense of tranquility, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in its calm yet dynamic beauty. This piece uniquely combines realism with impressionistic touches, making it both captivating and thought-provoking.
Presentation
Rebecca is a Scottish artist whose work explores atmospheric landscapes shaped by shifting weather, light, and mood. Drawing inspiration from the skies, coastlines, and terrain of East Lothian and the Scottish Highlands, her paintings capture fleeting moments of light breaking through cloud formations and dramatic skies.
Her process begins with observing a place and the emotion it evokes. Reference photographs taken on location act as prompts in the studio, where she paints directly onto canvas or linen without preliminary sketches. Working in acrylic, her initial marks remain visible in the finished work, lending immediacy and confidence to her compositions.
Rebecca studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Edinburgh College and has been exhibiting and selling her work since 2004. She continues to show her paintings in galleries and exhibitions across Scotland, alongside working on private commissions.
