Description
"Alex" is a work from the series "Green at the End," characterized by a particularly dense, relief-like surface and a concentrated visual effect. In contrast to more open works in the series, this painting appears compact and physical, as if the paint had built up in layers, condensed, and rearranged itself under pressure.
The green hues don't unfold in a flat pattern, but rather in a complex structure of overlaps, breaks, and condensations. This creates a surface reminiscent of natural processes – of cracked earth, compressed vegetation, or traces inscribed over time.
At the center, a darker, more dense zone forms, acting like an inner core. From there, the surrounding layers of color appear to expand and simultaneously contract. This subtle movement is reminiscent of natural systems of pressure and release, in which forces build up and then equalize.
The surface is characterized by organic traces, imprints, and structural inclusions that lend the work a distinct materiality. At the same time, calmer areas emerge that balance the image and give the eye space.
The depth of color develops from finely tuned shades of green, ranging from lighter, almost luminous nuances to deeper, earthy tones. This nuanced color palette lends the painting a special, almost noble presence that only fully reveals itself upon direct viewing.
Depending on the angle of the light, the perception changes significantly. Grazing light highlights the relief-like structure and intensifies the three-dimensional effect, while even light emphasizes the closed, dense overall effect.
"Alex" represents a form of abstract painting defined by its material, layering, and a subtle yet palpable inner dynamic. The work does not reveal its full effect immediately, but rather develops step by step in the process of viewing.

Born in Bad Segeberg, my life's journey has taken me to vibrant locales such as Brazil, Spain, and the USA. I pursued my passion for art at the prestigious Falmouth School of Art and Design in England and complemented this with a diploma in Geography from Marburg University.
Since 1997, I have had the privilege of showcasing my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in cultural hubs like Antwerp, Berlin, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Mainz. My artistic journey also involves organizing workshops focused on experimental and expressive painting, sharing my techniques and vision with fellow art enthusiasts.
From 2007 to 2014, I operated a production gallery in Mainz, fostering a creative community. Since 2014, I have been based at my studio in Langendellschlag 62, Wiesbaden, where my creative ideas come to life. In 2021, I expanded my artistic reach by opening "ARTLET," a dedicated art outlet in the heart of the city, making my work more accessible to a broader audience.
My diverse experiences and passion for art continue to drive my creativity, allowing me to inspire and be inspired in return.
