Dance of Light, 2026

Barbara Schaumann

This vibrant artwork showcases three ballerinas captured in dynamic motion, illustrating the fluidity and grace of dance. The figures are rendered in a bold, geometric style that divides their form into angular, colored segments, reminiscent of cubism. Each dancer is adorned with a leotard and tutu, accentuating their elegant postures. The background is an abstraction of cool blues and warm pinks, creating a harmonious yet contrasting backdrop that enhances their poise. The interplay of light and shadow, conveyed through the juxtaposition of bright and muted colors, adds depth and movement to the composition. Unique in its fragmented representation, the piece highlights the beauty of ballet through a modernist lens, offering a fresh perspective on traditional themes. The artist's skillful use of color and form invites viewers to explore the intersection of movement and abstraction.
