Aries: The First Breath of Rebellion, 2025

Yana Reznik

This piece is a self-portrait disguised as a beast. The Ram — the artist's own zodiac sign — stands as a mirror of her temperament: stubborn, fiery, unwilling to be quieted. Its striped crimson horns coil inward like the tightly wound energy of someone who has spent a lifetime being told to soften, to shrink, to conform — and refused.
Around it, the world erupts in graffiti tags, neon drips, and ornamental floral scrollwork in electric blue, acid green, and gold — a visual record of everything pressing in from the outside: expectations, restrictions, noise. Yet the Ram's gaze remains steady, almost serene, untouched by the chaos surrounding it. This is the artist's own duality made visible — the wild, untamed creative spirit existing alongside a quiet, unshakeable core.
"The First Breath of Rebellion" marks not an explosion, but an awakening — the exact moment the artist stopped holding her breath and started taking up space, exactly as she is. The Ram doesn't need to roar. It simply exists, unbroken, breathing in a world that tried to silence it.
